Glow in the dark Mixed Media Tag

Du finner den her tilogmed 17 mai!

I just love creating tags, or bookmarks ~ as they can be used as both! And they ar such fun to give away either as a little artwok ~ a gift in itself, or together with another gift ♥

This one made it to a friend together with the mixed media Q-tips box I made a while ago, link down below in the post. And I put a tiny blue box inside the box, 'bigger on the inside'.. Yes, we're both Doctor Who fans. Happy mail! :)

And if you want to have some happy mail from me, I have a nice little birdy blogcandy going that you can enter to win ~ up until the 17th. of May!
...

I absolutely LOVE the Nuvo glowdrops!

🖤  Mixed Media Tag Mini-tutorial 🖤

Covered the cog diecuts and tags (thick watercolor papers) with metal/aluminium tape on both sides. Then I ran them through my BigShot using some awesome embossing folders!
Just check out those two new 3D Texture Fades from Tim Holtz ♥ Used a different one from Tim H. (bottom tag) for my project, but the other two will soon be made into some Steampunk / Industrial tags as well. Love the 3D raised surface on them, much more detailed than regular embossingfolders.

Then I painted the surface with black gesso, and on some I dabbed off paint to create an even more grungy effect. I dripped black india ink on the tag and let it run down, as well as using the ink to make shadows inside the cogs. Then adding Inka Gold wax, rubbing on with my finger to the raised bumps n edges.
NB: Always take wax/mousse out of the jars with a spatula to avoid molding - fingers do contaminate, dirty water in the jar also! I've seen enough of those mould horror videos on youtube to avoid that ;)

Finally I splattered some watered down inka golds on the tag, and added my glow-in-the-dark lightbulb, cog diecuts and the encouraging sentiment.

Stamps/Images: Visible Image 'Shining Bright' clearstamp set.
Papers: I prefer Canson Montvale aquarelle paper (200 g/m coldpressed) for my motifs - and also for doing mixed media tags.
Embellishments: Ribbons recycled from clothes pricetags and the-shoulder-hanging-up-ribbons - u know what I mean?
Tools: ProvoCraft Silent Setter tool and eyelets unknown.
Stencils/Embossingfolders: Cuttlebug 5x7 Embossing folder by Tim Holtz 'Clockworks'.
Dies: Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz dies 'Tags And Bookplates', 'Gadget Gears' & 'Gadget Gears 2'.
Essentials/Adhesives: Drywall Mesh Self-adhesive tape. Aluminium Metal Foil Self-adhesive tape. Gluedots. 3D foam/mosegummi. High-Tack Double Sided Red Tape (Stix2). Tonic Studios Nuvo neon glowdrops 'Banana split'. Rangers Ink Glossy accents. Edding black permanent marker.

Techniques/Mediums: I used Rangers Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink pads to watercolor the lightbulb image and distress the sentiment 'Fossilized amber' & 'Black soot'. Pébéo Graphic India ink black. Royal Talens Amsterdam Black Gesso. Viva Decor Inka Gold waxes 'Platinum', 'Old Silver' & 'Silver'. I also used my heatgun to speed up the drying.
