Art Deco Cards & Tag

Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence :)

Du finner den her tilogmed 17 mai!

I was superhappy when Hero Arts released the Art Deco club kit ♥ I love reading books & watch tv-series from that era. When I was a teen I actually wrote a project essay on Agatha Christie! The author of Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Tommy and Tuppence :)

And if you haven't seen it already, I have a nice little birdy blogcandy going up until the 17th. of May!
...
Tag front and back

I usually don't have any patience for puzzles, but I had lots of fun with paperpiecing together the awesome diecut background that came in the kit. For the tag/bookmark I used the stencil and some tonic nuvo drops to really glam it up! And some black edges for a little bit of distressed vintage look. It still counts as CAS though ~ I hope, because all that white space was really difficult to leave un-inked! ;)

Stencils/Embossingfolders: Stencil from the HA kit.
Dies: Hero Arts feb.2019 kit - Art Deco fancy die and co-ordinating stamp dies. Sizzix Tim Holtz Bigz dies 'Tags And Bookplates'. Spellbinders™ Shapeabilities 'Tudor Rose Card Front' - using only the rectangle frame. Nellie Snellen Dies 'Straight Dotted Round MFD085'. Techniques/Mediums: I used misc. blacks & greys from Luminarte Twinkling H2o's Shimmering Watercolors, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads to watercolor the image to look like an old black & white photo. No waste when puzzle piecing the background diecuts together - took me a while to do, but using a wide sheet of tape behind the cardstock before cutting keeps most pieces still in the diecut, and makes for easy puzzling them together :) I used Rangers Alcohol Ink 'Flamingo' on some of the bits.

My card today is featuring the lovely 'Flapper Twirl Girl' from our awesome sponsor Lemon Shortbread in challenge #126. over at Creative Fingers! The Theme is as always 'Anything Goes', create whatever you wish, and you are most welcome to join in! :)

http://creativefingerschallengeblog.blogspot.no/

She reminds me of the Honourable Miss Phryne Fisher from the tvseries with the same name, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It's a fabulous series, reminiscent of Poirot and Miss Marple ~ just way more colorful, funny, sassy and romantic!
Great cast, set in Melbourne Australia, and it's really interesting to watch the 1920's from a liberated feminist point of view, as well as getting a fairly accurate historylesson! Most series from that era are kinda frumpish... ;) See a trailer on youtube, and go bingewatch it on Netflix if you haven't seen it yet!

the Roaring 20's!

"An archaeologist is the best husband a woman can have: the older she gets, the more interested he is in her". ~ Agatha Christie Quote.

"Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory."
~ Indy Quote from Temple Of Doom.

Sponsor i denne ukas utfordring hos Creative Fingers.
"I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing". ~ Agatha Christie Quote.
~ New Years ~ the Magic of Christmas ~

Whoopee! I LOVE reading Agatha Christie novels, as well as movies and tv-series from the 1920s 30s and 40s ~ archeology, womens liberation & individuality was the bees-knees back then! :) Just think of Egypt in the 20s! The discovery of Tutankhamons toomb.. the valley of the kings and the wonders of the pyramids as they were mostly untouched by tourists... Gangsters and bootleggers. The Wizard of OZ!

Think I was about 12 years old when I wrote a special school project about A.Christie. And I remember my big crush on Indiana Jones *sigh* I wanted to BE an archeologist.. or writer.. Do you remember the tv-series of young Indy? Ab-so-lute-ly LOVED it!

And by the way, I got GORJUSS BlogCandy if you want to join in! No rules :)
