Mariner ~ Summer ATC's

 

Nå er jeg fullvaksinert! 👍 Det er en lettelse ettersom jeg er i et par av risikogruppene. Fikk andrestikket på onsdag, og har dritvondt i armen nå ~ men det tåler jeg fint. Gleder meg til å kunne dra på handletur igjen!

Er med i en Sommer swap på en facebook gruppe kalt Scrappesyken :-O, og lagde da disse sommerlige maritime ATC kortene ~ venter spent nå på å få fine ATC'er tillbake i posten! Har ikke vært med på mange bytter, eller lagd mange ATC'er før ~ dette er bare mitt tredje. Kjempemoro! De to første var i samme fb gruppa, når de arrangerte online scrappetreff. Vi er veldig heldige som kan ha kontakt med andre på nett i disse tider! ❤️

Yay! I'm now fully vaccinated! 👍 Got my second shot on wednesday, and it's super painful in my arm right now, but well worth it! Such a relief as I'm in a couple of the risk groups. Looking forward to be able to go shopping again!

I'm taking part in a Summer ATC swap in a norwegian facebook group, and I made theese fun nautical mariner little cards. They should be reaching their new homes right about now, and I'm exited to see what surprise cards I'm getting mailed in return! It's only my third time exchanging ATCs, the previous two swaps was in the same groups online scrap events. How lucky we are that in theese pandemic times we have the technology to be able to meet online! ❤️

Essentials/Adhesives: High-Tack adhesive tape Sookwang Scor-Pal tape &/or Red tape. Ranger ink Collage gluestick. Artline supreme Calligraphy & Tombow mono black drawingpens.

 

Techniques/Mediums: I used Tim Holtz Distress Spray stain 'Salty ocean', 'Antique linen' and Distress Ink pads 'Salty ocean', 'Gathered twigs', 'Antique linen' and 'Broken China' to make the background, watercolor and distress stamped images and papers. 

I stamped my nautical images as well as direct-to-paper swipe inking with Hero Arts inkpads 'Cocoa' & 'Sand stone' for that distressed old look. To heat emboss I used a Versamark inkpad, Rangers 'Emboss it dabber' and a heat gun tool. Hero Arts 'Sand' & 'Underwater' embossingpowders. The jute thread I dyed half of with the above mentioned spray stains. Finally I splattered the cards with tiny droplets of the remainder of the blue and brown inks.

Techniques/Mediums: I used misc. Luminarte Twinkling H2o's Shimmering Mica Watercolors paints, and Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads (regular & oxides) and markers to watercolor and distress image and papers. I had printed out the owl on plain copy paper also, fussycut and used that as a mask when stenciling the background around the owl. The alphabet diecuts are cut out from a piece of cardstock with Viva Decor Inka Gold wax 'Gold' heavily watercolored on, and backed with sookwang sticky tape before diecutting.

Monster Birthday Party!

 

Fikk første sprøytestikket idag med Pfizer vaksinen! Yay! Kjempevondt i armen, men det er ingenting for snart kan jeg leve et mer normalt liv. Har stort sett ikke vært utenfor huset siden pandemien startet, ettersom jeg har vært nødt å selvisolere pga av diabetes og andre helseplager. Selv om jeg liker å være for meg selv (og ikke er særlig glad i masse mennesker på en gang), så gleder jeg meg til å igjen kunne dra på shopping, spise ute på restaurant, og ha noen over på besøk! ☺️

Yay! I got my first shot of the Pfizer vaccine today & my arm is hurting so much! Happy for the pain though.. Beeing in the risk-group with diabetes and other issues, I am so glad to finally be on track to a more normal life. Having to selfisolate since the pandemic began (I can count on one hand the times I have been into the city... mostly for dentist/doctor appointments) it will be nice to soon be able to go to a store and just browse or sit in a restaurant, and have people over to visit! Luckily I have always been the type of person that enjoy beeing on my own. Just.. not this much! 😉

Gnomie Christmas!

For noen dager siden fikk jeg en svær pakke fra USA og Simon Says Stamps med masse spesielle dies/stempler (ikke solgt noen andre steder enn hos dem eller vanskelig å får tak i ellers), bla. denne kjempesøte gnomen ♥ Har hatt lyst på den lengelenge, og da jeg skulle lage mitt DT bidrag så måtte jeg teste den og lagde dermed julekort i juni! Kortene er litt mixed media stil da jeg har gnikket (og splættet) gullvoks på dem.

Recently I got a huge package full of goodies all the way from Simon Says Stamps in USA ~ an awesome company btw ~ and finally this little gnome die is mine! So ofcourse I had to try it out, even though its a bit early for christmascards lol :) They're a bit mixed media with gilding flakes, gold wax both rubbed & splattered on them.

Techniques/Mediums: I used a wide piece of supersticky sookwang tape behind the cover die and added gilding flakes. Indigoblu 'Megaflake Chocolate Box' & 'Lancashire Rose' gilding flakes.
 The 'god jul' diecuts are cut out from a piece of cardstock with Viva Decor Inka Gold wax 'Gold' on, wich I also had rubbed on the edges of my cardstock. Then the leftover wax I had on my Tim Holtz Tonic Glass Media Mat was watered down and I flicked on drops of the gold with my Tim Holtz Distress Splatter Brush.

Quotes & TIME ~ Altered Books

Helt siden jeg var liten har jeg likt å pynte forsiden på skolebøker, dagbøker og notatbøker, men etter at jeg begyndte denne hobbyen for rundtom tyve år siden har det blitt mere mixed media på dem enn vanlig gavepapir og klistremerker..

Akkurat disse bøkene må jeg ha kjøpt på slutten av nitti-tallet en gang, ettersom bildene på forsiden er Madonna fra den tiden hun ga ut CD'en 'Ray of Light'. Favorittsangen min derfra er 'Frozen' ❤️ 

Har alltid hatt øye for en god deal så de bøkene var nok til salgs for en tier eller noe, og så har jeg tenkt at dem kunne jeg gjøre pene - men det tok meg alltså over tyve år!!! LOL 😊

Bøkene er mitt DT bidrag hos Creative Fingers #209. Er litt forsinka, beklager det - har hatt migrene i dagevis .. og jeg er ganske sikker på at denne gangen har Finnabair voksen skylda! Jeg satt på scrapperommet og koste meg og så BANG! Kvalme og skallebank.. Jeg reagerer ofte på sterke lukter, spesielt parfyme, og den fra Finnabair er ekstremt sterk på lukt... Viva Decor voksene har derimot nesten ingen lukt, helt trygge å bruke. Veldig synd at Prima har valgt å ha sånn sterke luktestoffer i voksen da de er helt nydelige i fargene og helt kremete og lett og bruke, kommer nok ikke til å kjøpe flere enn de to jeg har nå. Hvis du vet om andre typer voks som er trygge å bruke, tips meg gjerne!

Ever since I was a child I've been decorating my notebooks, wether its schoolbooks, journals or diaries. But after starting my crafting hobbies about 20 years ago, its been more mixed media  and art journaling than the regular old giftwrapping papers and stickers I used to have!

Theese books I must have bought sometime in the late nineties, going by the photos on front of them (before altering), as the photo of Madonna is from the time when she sang 'Frozen'. I love that  song so much ❤️ The 'Ray of Light' album its on is one of her best in my opinion.

I've always had an eye for a good deal, so I reckon that I got those books for next to nothing on a sale, with the intention to pretty up the covers - but here we are... it took me more than twenty years to do so!!! LOL 😊

I am a couple days late with my contribution, sorry about that, I got a massive migraine just when I was almost done working on theese. Was having a fun time creating when BLAM! Feeling sick  and queezy with a massive headache. And I'm sure it was the Finnabair wax this time that did it 🙁 I often react to strong odors and fumes, especially perfumes, and theese waxes has a very pungent scent to them. It is such a shame that Prima chose to add that, as they're otherwise just gorgeous to work with, so creamy and beautiful colors! The Viva Decor waxes I also use are practically odorless, so they are safe to use. Probably not going to buy any more than the two Prima waxes I have now. Please do let me know of any other brand of waxes you know of that are safe for me to use!

My process in the making of the books.

First I cut a square piece of fabric for each of the books, no measuring needed as its easy to estimate. But I cut it quite enough bigger than the books to be able to easily wrap it around the edges and then fold over and adhere inside the bookflaps - as shown in the photos.

 The trick to making the wrapping pretty is by first tucking the corners inwards, then the sides. If like me you mess up and there is an open gap when trying to adhere the sides over the corner - you just add a tiny piece of cloth (or paper if you use that for your book) in the corner, tucking it in.

 

After stencilling on the front covers and adding the waxes, I was left with a lot of leftovers - and I am not one for wasting - so I dilluted the wax with water and using my paintbrush and a splatter brush I made pretty golden paper and some papers with speckled gold and black. Before adding those papers to the inside of my bookcovers I taped some gold threads on each side to be able to keep the book closed together when it eventually will be filled with stuff :)

Techniques/Mediums: See photo tutorials! When adding waxes to the cover - after the stenciled images with the aid of a spatula were dry to the touch - I used my fingers to rub wax on the covers here and there. The waxes I used are from Viva Decor Inka Gold 'Copper', 'Gold', 'Old Silver' and 'Brown Gold'. Prima Marketing inc. Finnabair Art Alchemy wax Cire Cera 'Firebird'. Black Gesso from Royal Talens Amsterdam. I used my paintbrush as well as a Tim Holtz Distress Splatter Brush to make the fine gold & black speckles.
