Stamperia Jewellery Box

My DT project for this fortnights challenge #183. at Creative Fingers, wich is sponsored by our Angelique with a fab stampset! As always it is an 'Anything goes theme', and you are more than welcome to join with your creations ♥

During theese scary pandemic times, I hope you all stay safe & healthy everyone ♥ xoxo ♥ Me and mum are self isolating beeing in high risk groups, but my brother takes care of groceries and stuff, and have everything we need, so we're all set to ride this out... My birthday is coming up soon, so there will be a blogcandy! So be on the lookout for that. Hopefully it will cheer someone up :)

Step-by-step Mixed media Jewellery box for my niece Amalia ♥

I got four stamperia thin moulds as well as a few shapes from other deeper moulds out of one of stamperia's cream paste jars. So it is a bit expensive, but well worth it ♥ SO flexible, you can easily tear the sheet into smaller bits & bend around a bottle shape! Finnabairs icing pastes can also be used in theese thin moulds (and in embossing folders too!). I plan to try out hardware stores silicone culking plaster fillings thingies? Don't recall what they are named, and I am a bit scared to try ~ some of those may actually adhere to and run your moulds, so be careful if u try the same!

This is the box in the beginning stages ~ gluing on the moulds,
artstones, stencilling with modelling paste, and covering up
everything with white gesso.

Now comes the 'ugly stage'... The spray inks and the paints goes on ~ and for a while u think this looks no good! It is ruined... But wait for it!
Finnabair Anna Dabrowska / Finnabair Art Files, Keren Tamir, Tiffany Solorio, Gabrielle Polacco and Maremi SmallArts, are just some of the wonderful mixed media artists (click on their names to be taken to their youtube channels), they have taught me that u should power through that ugly stage and keep going to reach the pretty!!! ♥

The 'pretty stage' is revealed when dry-brushing on white gesso and using a heat tool AT THE SAME TIME to speed thing up & to NOT activate the underneath inks and color the white gesso. My photos isn't showing this very well (I get this yellow hue sometimes) but at the detail photo at the bottom of the blogpost, it shows well ~ white highlights with a touch of platinum wax.

Remember to use an old worn stipple brush as this process will ruin the neat brushes u have ~ this is my designated brush for this use. As long as the gesso goes on dry, the white highligts will come, and I am in LOVE with the box now :)

Here is the finished box & the inside with a blingy mirror and a velvet cushion ~  for all the pretty jewellery and secrets my niece will put there! She just turned 8 years old! Happy birthday sweetie ♥

I enter my mixed media box in theese fab Challenges
