Crow Totem ~ art journal page

http://creativefingerschallengeblog.blogspot.no/

I think this theme came to me since it was Halloween and having watched 'the Labyrinth' for the umpteenth time.. absolutely LOVE that movie ♥

Made this mixed media art journal page as my DT creation for challenge #174. at Creative Fingers. I rarely make art journal pages, but when I do it is usually because I got a painted motif and/or papers that I don't want to part with, just wanting to keep them for my self ;)

This motif was a freebie I got in a newsletter email many months ago from Michelle Tracey, and when she was going to sponsor this challenge I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous 'Crow Totem' girl ♥

As always it is an 'Anything goes theme', and you are more than welcome to join with your creations :)

Did you see the blogcandy I have up now? Take a look and join in if you want a chance to win some crafty goodies 👍

Stamps/Images: Michelle Tracey Art 'Crow Totem' digi stamp coloring page. Visible Image 'Leave your fears behind' clearstamp set.
Papers: I prefer Canson Montvale aquarelle paper (200 g/m coldpressed) for my motifs. 12x12 Designerpapers from DCWV 'High school foil dance' & 'all dressed up - mod & chic GLTR'. A4 classic/silky silver paper 4601 by Hobby & Crafting fun.
Embellishments: DMC Mouliné multicolored E135 glittery thread.

Tools: My distress tools from Ranger Ink is always in use ~ Tim Holtz® Mini Ink Round Blending Tool & the Inkssentials Ink Blending Tool and Foams.
Stencils/Embossingfolders: Panduro Hobby 'Feathers' A4 stencil.
Dies: Spellbinders™ Nestabilities 'Curved Rectangles S5006' die. Hero Arts 'Filigree Border Fancy Die'. Creative Expressions Craft Dies by Sue Wilson - Special Occasion Collection 'Arbour Gate CED9403' (cut to smaller pieces). Scrapbooking made Simple - Simply Defined 0318 True Comp Collection 'Love by Gaslight' SMS dies.
Essentials/Adhesives: Aleene's clear tacky glue. Double Sided Scor-Pal Sookwang 5" strong tape.

Techniques/Mediums: I stenciled the feathers with using Versafine 'Onyx black' inkpad, my preferred ink for stamping with also.
To watercolor and distress image and papers: Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils. Luminarte Twinkling H2o's 'autumn skies' blue Shimmering Watercolors. Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads 'Black soot', 'Hickory smoke', 'Vintage photo' & 'Tattered rose'. Viva Decor Inka Gold waxes 'Steel Blue' & 'Platinum'. Winsor & Newton white calligraphy ink. Staedtler pigment liner 0.1 black.

I actually 'ruined' my first go at this image (as u may tell by the emoji!).. coloring black crows and black hair is never easy! Lost most of the lineart and messing up the background and loosing the pretty border.. but I'm happy with the end result now! Re-drawing up some of the lines and even gave her an arm tattoo :)
